What are you working on now?
When is your next publication?
Why did you change your pen name from Alicia Wright Brewster to Alicia Ellis?
Will there be a sequel to ECHO?
What is going on with the Forsaken series and possible sequels to Don’t Call Me Angel?
So much! I’m working on a trilogy featuring a family curse and a hoodoo-based magic system. I also have two other series in progress, one about a girl who uses blood magic to hunt her stepmother’s killer and another about a girl who unwittingly becomes a cyborg.
I plan to release at least one—maybe two—books in my hoodoo series in 2019. I’ll keep you posted in my blog.
A few reasons. The main one is that seven years span the space between my last publication as Alicia Wright Brewster and my first as Alicia Ellis. In that time, my writing style has evolved, as have the stories I want to tell. I think the new me deserves a new name.
Short answer: Maybe.
Long answer: I originally planned for ECHO to be a stand-alone work. As I revised it, I added new threads that could potentially be worked into a sequel. I even accidentally came up with a sequel concept. But I have plans to write other stuff. Since the “sequel” to ECHO was never part of my plans, I want to finish everything on my present writing calendar before I return to Earth-Two, if I return to Earth-Two at all.
Unfortunately, I’ve put this series on hold indefinitely, so I don’t know if there will be additional novellas or novels in this series. There are several reasons for this. The most significant one is that I wrote Don’t Call Me Angel before I discovered who I really wanted to be as a writer. Maybe someday I’ll be inspired to return to it.
I promise not to make a habit of not completing my series! This is a special case, and I have a much better idea of who I am as a writer these days.
